On the morning of January 21, faculty and staff were greeted with a delicious breakfast in the teachers lounge, making a typical Wednesday a little more special.
Prepared by Student Council, the meal was a thoughtful way to recognize the hard work and support teachers provide to students and the school community every day.
StuCo put together an impressive spread of breakfast options, along with orange juice and coffee to complement the meal. Students chose their favorite homemade recipes to prepare and bake for the staff.
From homemade muffins and warm bread to Greek yogurt and fresh fruit, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
The most anticipated dishes, however, were the egg and potato casseroles. This year, StuCo member Meredith Stanley made a sausage, egg, and cheese casserole that was a crowd favorite. Many teachers even asked for her delicious recipe!
Monica Nelson, an active member of StuCo, arrived at school early to help set up for the breakfast and shared her favorite part of the event. “My favorite part was seeing how excited and thankful the teachers were,” Nelson said. “It made all the planning and early morning preparation worth it, especially knowing we were able to make their day a little brighter.”
Along with the food, students wrote notes of gratitude that were displayed on trifolds throughout the lounge. The notes shared fun stories and memories with teachers adding a thoughtful and personal touch.
Teacher Reinald Yoder shared how much he appreciated the effort and intentionality put into the event. “I especially liked the decorations that made the lounge festive, the music selections that were playing in the background, and the heartfelt comments that were on display on the tables,” he pointed out.
StuCo members didn’t just plan the breakfast. They also served the faculty and took time to talk with them throughout the morning.
Andrew Wiegand, StuCo Vice President of Service and Spirituality, reflected on the purpose of the event. “It’s really a chance to show how much we care about our teachers and appreciate them,” he said. “They do so much for us, and it is evident that they care deeply about our development.”
The annual tradition has become a highlight of the winter, bringing students together early in the morning to serve, connect, and express gratitude for the teachers. Overall, the staff felt extremely appreciated and are already wondering which casserole will be the favorite next year.
