The 2025 War Eagles football season was a strong one, filled with hard work, teamwork, and determination. The War Eagles finished the season with a 12-2 record, showing how much effort the team put in all year.
The team’s playoff run ended in Savannah, where the War Eagles lost to Benedictine.
While the loss was disappointing, the experience brought the team closer together. Senior Kieran Kidder shared what the playoff journey meant for him. “It means that we all go through adversity together, but it makes us closer as a team and a brotherhood,” Kidder said. Comments like this one demonstrates how even difficult losses can build unity among the squad.
The only other loss of the year came earlier in the season against Jefferson, ending in a 19-0 score. Since that game, the team overcame that big blow and played with confidence and consistency for the rest of the season.
The team’s chemistry was clear, especially among the seniors. Senior Dawson Batemon described the team in his own way. “The guys around me were all special this year. The fact that we supported each other through thick and thin means something,” Batemon said. “We won as a team, we lost as a team. We knew when to joke around as a team and lock in. But most importantly, we knew this team was a family, and that was the backbone that held us together and pushed us farther than anyone thought we could go,” he continued.
Although the season ended earlier than we hoped, the War Eagles have a lot to be proud of. The special moments this year gave the student body plenty to be excited about for the future of the football program.
